Street Parking

Street Parking

You can use residential areas outside the main historical centre for street parking near the Galleria Accademia in Florence.

Be sure to park in blue spaces and pay at nearby meters between 8 am and 8 pm, except on public holidays.

Parking rates are typically €2 for the first hour and €3 for each additional hour.

There is street parking along Lungarno della Zecca Vecchia, which is a ten-minute walk to the Santa Croce/Uffizi area.

Small parking spaces are available at Piazzale Michelangelo, along Via dei Bastioni, a one-way street from Viale Michelangelo and Porta San Frediano, close to the ZTL entrance.

You can also find parking at the ring road that surrounds the historical center (viali di circonvalazione) as well as near Torre della Zecca, Lungarno del Tempio, Lungarno Cellini and Lungarno Ferrucci

Be sure to plan ahead, consider walking distances when choosing a parking spot, and be cautious of restricted zones (ZTL areas) to avoid fines.

Free Parking in Florence

Most paid parking spots are near Santa Maria Novella, Piazza Beccaria, Fortezza da Barso, and Piazza della Liberta train stations.

You can park here by paying a small fee of €1 to €3 for an hour and €20 for an entire day.

Free parking is not available in Florence because of the strict ZTL areas, which are limited traffic zones only for locals with permits.

The stalls marked by white lines are for locals.

If you’re lucky, you might find free parking in the blue-lined areas of the ZTL zones on weekends and public holidays.

The ZTL zones are under surveillance 24/7, and you must pay a fine of over €30 if you violate the rules.

You can access these parking zones if you are living in any hotel falling within the ZTl, as they will make a temporary permit for your car number.

Please note: The free parking zones at Piazzale Michelangelo have been closed down since 2016.
